Miscellaneous Twitter Bots
Aside from some of the bigger 'hits' like Ominous Zoom and Wavelength Daily, I participated for a number of years in a community of folks making fun art bots, first on Twitter, then migrating many of them to Mastodon. Unfortunately, between the decline of Twitter as a safe platform and the shutdown of the instance that all of my Mastodon bots ran on, many of them are no longer easily observed. You can still see the archives of their lifespans on the Scrumwave Discord server.
There are also records of a handful of them on the excellent site Botwiki! Here are some links:
Some more that I will have to dig up proof of at some point in the future include:
- Businessman.exe, which generated retro DOS game-style headshots, names, job titles, and employer company names for businessmen
- Video Games, But With Guns, which littered video game screenshots with extra images of guns
- Play of the Game, which generated Overwatch match-ending highlight videos but with cute animal videos
- Pikachaplin, which mashed up public domain silent films with title cards that pulled text from dialogue from the original Pokémon for the Game Boy
You can also view the source for all of them in the Botter Heaven GitHub repo.
